    When in doubt…Sushi!

“Making sushi is an art, and experience is everything” -Nobu Matsuhisa

Sushi lovers reeejoice! Zengo just made date nights, birthdays, and gifting a whole lot easier by introducing their sushi-rolling classes The Sushi Series. After attending this class, I can completely identity  with the above quote by the great Sushi chef Nobu Matsuhisa. This class is fun, interactive, and incredibly tasty–trust me, get here ASAP.

Housed in an intimate & quite area of the restaurant, a beautiful table set-up, including fresh sushi ingredients, awaits class-goers. The class begins with an overview of the restaurant, some sushi history, and sushi-fun facts, including exactly how to make sushi rice so that it’s the right consistency for rolling.

Although rolling sushi isn’t as easy as it looks, Aaron, the Master Sushi Chef, is an amazing instructor and totally easy to follow. Aaron is very patient, and really walked the class through on how to properly make sushi while simultaneously making us laugh the entire class. On this evening, out class made two classic sushi rolls- a California roll and spicy tuna roll, both of which were absolutely amazing. AS IF the sushi wasn’t enough, we also got to snack on perfectly seasoned edamame, veggie dumplings, and other snacks during the class. One of my favorite parts of the class however was the Sake informational session along with Sake pairings that came with each roll, perfectly explained by Zengo’s resident Sake Sommelier Brandon (Side note: how do you even become one of those?). For someone that had only tried Sake once before, I was ecstatic to try out a few different kinds of Sake and walk out with a new favorite!

Sushi classes are given a few Thursday evenings a month, and cost $65/person. This does not include gratuity, but does include the sake tasting, complimentary valet and a Chinese to-go box including recipes and dry sushi.
In closing, to all my fellas that are reading this, always remember, us women looove creativity and what’s more creative than a sushi-making class where you can get your hands dirty and also leave full and happy? And to all you ladies, are you not convinced? Sushi is always a good choice.
